Before it was the WWE, he starred as both HERO and VILLAIN in the World Wrestling Federation for many decades. Canadian-born but of Scottish ancestry, kilt-wearing Roderick George Toombs became his outrageous alter ego (Rowdy Roddy Piper) when that on-the-air light came on television.
His “Piper’s Pit” corner interview segments were wild displays of outlandish entertainment with a capital W. He was the best.
Rest in peace, Hot Rod. You will be sadly missed both inside and outside of the squared circle.
